Rob, would you mind showing me the can of the gel-coat product you are using. The stuff I have used many times specifically says do not use over any paint ever. If you have some new super product we need to know about it. Thanks for your help. Regards, Michael
Quick update on the Carbon Fiber stinger, its laid and coated with resin, next up blocking the resin and prepping for paint and everything will get buried in clear.
The rear spoiler is also in process, I should have some updated pics in a couple days of the fiberglass spoiler we will be using to make the carbon part from.
No senior moment on the gel coat, we have done it for years, sprays on like a sealer and blocks the same.
As for the color, its going to be polarizing some will love, some will hate, Im willing to gamble on it.
I think the term gel-coat is throwing him off. It looks like you're using a polyester like Slick Sand or Feather fill. I did mine in Feather Fill 3 times. Great product.
Car and progress looks fantastic. I personally love the Nardo Grey on any car. My friend did his V in it. I'm going with 2015 Laguna Blue not to be confused with the 60's LB. SRIII, LS3/525 & Magnum T56.
Can you tell what brand steering wheel you're using? Love the one pictured. Thanks.

Im not using the steering wheel that came on the car, I believe its a Flaming River wheel, we are using a new Momo wheel and wrapping it in the same leather. We are trying to get the car in paint next week, so we can start on the interior changes.

Let me know if you want to sell it. Keep up the posts. Looking for motivation. LOL Painter is starting final prep on mine today. Hope to see it painted by end of month.
The 65 Fuelie we sold at Barrett-Jackson is back in the shop for a little while, the buyer was nice enough to loan it back to me for filming the Motorhead Garage episode last week.
for the carbon fiber, did your team bag it and pull a vacuum on it? did they use 2 part epoxy or did they use polyester resin or ?
They did a great job.
At Good-Guys in Columbus there was a Charger that the entire body was done with carbon fiber....they did a nice job matching up the various parts (hood, doors, deck lid, etc) across the body and weave. A lot of work went into it for sure...

I saw the Charger at Goodguys, it was incredible! We overlaid dry carbon fiber with epoxy resin for a total of 4 coats blocking between 3rd and 4th coats followed by wet sanding down to 400 before clear coat.
The hood still needs a little prep and finish sanding, hope to have it in paint early next week. I could not be happier with the finished product.
