Default New member questions

Hello All,
I have been reading the forum for some time now. It's time to join up as I just took possession of a 1961 Maroon/White and Fawn.
It is in storage until the export paperwork takes effect so that I may bring it to Canada on Monday.
I have many questions for you all after only spending an hour with the car today. I look forward to all of the expert answers I see on this forum.
More soon...
Thank You,
John

Congratulations John, and welcome to the insanity that is classic Corvette ownership.

What you will find here is some very fascinating topics, and an absolute wealth of information, all of which is shared freely

Please fill out your profile (if you haven't already done so) and post pictures of your car when you get a chance.

The two things a man needs to be happy are a dog and his car.
I assume this is not your first 'classic' or 'special car', but even if it is, you will find the fellow 'car guys' here to help you out with those somewhat challenging tasks to make your new acquisition your own CORVETTE.
I wrench R66 C2, but love the C1s too. Welcome.

Thank you all for the replies. Yes, the insanity. I was up all night looking at parts catalogs wondering why the previous owner didn't do this or that.
Here are a few pictures. Once I get it home there will be a list of questions and parts requirements. What have I done?!
First question. The rear seat hold down bolts and bracket are missing. You can see in the picture that the seats are too far down at the back. The carpet doesn't go under the seats. How is the floor supposed to be finished under and behind the seats?
Thanks, John

The carpet is supposed go underneath the seats about 1/4 of the way underneath the seats. The rest is painted body color. Very nice corvette!

This is a 1962 but you can see where the carpet ends where the seam is at.

I drove a maroon 270hp dual quad '61 with black interior for over a decade and did most of the maintenance and restoration myself....the car should be mostly body color under the carpet, however other components were placed on the floor during assembly and painted so the coverage may be spotty. You'll want the seat mounting fixtures for safety and check the seat belt anchor plates since things have been messed with in the interior a bit... You'll want to get a 61 AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) right off..

Get the safety items checked off and completed first then worry about cosmetics (like the wrong front bumperette license plate holder brackets you have on the car). This car has incorrect earlier brackets (too long). An easy $50 fix when you get around to it.. No biggee...

The point being - to prioritize your tasks and not get overwhelmed...
The car is a beauty for sure.

Beautiful Corvette! Congrats, and welcome. Did you buy the Pacer, too?

Live well,

Yes, that's where I bought it... sort of. It didn't sell at the normal auction so it got moved to 'The Bid Goes On'. That's where I found it.
