That is looking seriously sweet. Great work! Looking forward to seeing it when it's completed.

Live well,

Chopper, did you use the yellow weatherstrip adhesive to glue down the dash pad?

I would certainly not use 'yellow death' anywhere on my car! Especially not on the dash pad. There are multiple things that help hold it in place, like the rear view mirror, dash vents, radio speaker bezel, passenger side 'boomerang', and the instrument cluster, where you dont need a lot of glue. Mostly where it rolls over into the windshield channel is where you need something like contact cement. And of course underneath. I was surprised how little adhesive I used.

Already did my dash and used a vinyl safe cement, it looks yellow in the windshield area and I was just curious.

My C1 needs a new dash pad AND new windshield. From what I've read it is the worst job one can do on a C1 so I'm scared to tackle it.

I can certainly relate to your anxiety. There are several forum members who have been a big help to me in both of these areas. The videos that Al Knoch makes on the dash is good as far as it goes- but there are so many little things about both that it would really help if you had someone who has done it before to kind of guide you over the tough spots and give you the little 'tricks' to doing both of these projects . It's not terribly difficilt once you get started, but there are some things that you absolutely have to do correctly.

I agree. The issue here is the price of the part. If you had 50 dash pads lying around, you could afford to screw up the first one or two. But at the current price of admission, one slip of the razor knife and it's game over. I'm letting my old but presentable dashpad live on for now.....it matches the rest of the car. When it's time to replace it, I'll figure out what course of action to take!

Actually I was less concerned with the dash pad (however after reading your post I should be) and more concerned with the windshield. On my first '60, going back 47 years, I had to replace the seal under the windshield frame that was leaking. Upon re-installation my windshield cracked (when tightening the hold down bolts IIRC).

Yessir. That is one of the areas that many people, myself included, tend to overtighten. Just snug seems to be the consensus.

I figured that was the case. The question is; is there a torque spec for those bolts, if so what is it????
