Default Replacement Speedometer Lens?

I want to replace the speedometer lens (because of the crack). Is there any place that sells replacement pieces?

Well, I ended up making the inner lens on my own by hand. It took a fair amount of reverse engineering to get it right.

Here are some before and after shots:

Trim Parts are the people who make them. Central Corvette or most any Corvette supply house has them. CC list it as P/N 391135 (58-62) speedometer lenses $40.

All the regular vendors carry the lenses, for example https://www.corvettecentral.com/c1-5...numbers-391135

The part you guys are referencing is the outer lens which has the mph numbers. My piece that is cracked is the inner lens.

I can't find the inner lens anywhere.

Interesting. They show the inner lens for 53-57, but not 58-62. Maybe find a used one?

I bet a local glass shop could make one for you or sell you a piece of plexi to do it yourself.

I sent a message to Willcox Corvette... we'll see what they have to say.

THAT is a good idea. If I go this route, then I will need to think of some customized graphics to put on it

aobrien, I see that you are a "tech contributor". Don't know for sure but I don't think the 58 inner lens is reproduced. But, if any of our members have a laser cutter I would think the 58 inner lens could be easily made. Thinking the lens would be an easy cut and the 58 dots etched in and then painted with speedo needle white paint. I would be more than happy to coordinate with and provide a Corel file for cutting and etching and even sending the lens material. Maybe private message...anyone?

Corvette Specialties of Maryland (West) supposedly sells them -- about $40...

Herm59, prior to 58 an inner lens was used in addition to an outer lens with a different style bezel than 58-62. These inner lens are available. 58 is a one-year only design with the inner lens consisting of white dots and an outer lens with only numbers. 59-62 only used single outer lens with both dashes and numbers in either off white or light green. The real difference is that a 58 gauge black face plate allowed the inner lens to set down inside and the outer lens flush with it while the 59=62 face plate was stamped so that the lettered lens fit flush to it. If the original poster did not care about the the "correct" 58 dots he could replace the black face plate with the new style and use a 59 white number/dashes lens.

Want to apologize for bad memory and make correction. On the 59-62 black face plate the dashes are screenprinted on to it instead of a separate 58 dotted clear lens which inlays to the 58 only black face plate. The numbered lens is the same from 58-62 being either the white or green. You can just replace a 58 solid black face plate, eliminate the inner dotted clear lens, change to a new style screenprinted dashed face plate, and use the same numbered clear lens. It just would not be judgeable correct. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

aobrien, wondering how much time it took you to cut the lens and file the anchor notches without the dots? Then, how much time to put the dots on and what procedure did you use for making/painting the dots?

I would have done it just fine, taking hours to place the dots just right. Then, when installing it, I would crack it just like the original one and be back at square one. When I fail, it's never at the beginning of a project....it's always near the end, after a ton of time and money has been invested that can no longer be recovered!!
