Got my ‘59 a couple of years ago and it’s an ongoing labour of love getting it to where I would like it to be. A bit of a mix between a restoration and a renovation. It’s a car for me to drive and enjoy rather than just to show.
So, some help, both windows sometimes “lock up” when closed. I’ve had them apart, lubricated but I can’t figure out why it is happening.
I would like to swap the original vinyl interior out of leather, how good are the aftermarket packs from the big suppliers, Zip, Ecklers etc?
Does anyone know where I can get some templates of the carpets? I’m in the trade and I’m going to have some custom made but could do with templates if they are available.
The window "stops" are dime sized metal round, adjustable, "stand offs" with a rubber cap....C1 windows are pretty famous for catching on those when operating the window if they aren't adjusted precisely... Windows can also "grab" on the front garnish tubing if its folding into the channel. Finally there is a felt "runner" down the back channel of each window that can "roll up" and cause flaky operation.
The pinch point discussed above along with the two metal brackets that hold the window stops on the horizontal upper ledge of the door are show here..without the rubber caps...
Most times its the rearmost stop that causes problems.
