This past winter I pulled the motor and transmission (Muncie 4-speed), to fix various oil leaks. I decided to replace the clutch since I had everything out. Put the same luk clutch in that I put in 15 years ago. Put on new water pump, oil pan gaskets, u joints front and back. I know I torqued the harmonic balancer when I put it back on. Good news leaks are fixed. Bad news I now have a vibration that only occurs when I turn the steering wheel to the left. Doesn't matter if standing still or driving, clutch pedal in or out. Doesn't happen turning wheel to right. My thoughts are I screwed up the u joint install. Anyone have their own opion as to what is wrong? Happy Easter hope all are in good health.
Standing still without moving - I don't think it would be U-joints. The clutch would have nothing attached to the steering wheel unless the steering column is contacting the Z-bar - not likely.
The water pump is attached to the power steering pump (assuming you have PS) via the belt. If you have PS, my guess is you left a bolt loose on the PS pump or the sleave (pulley) on the water pump is not properly tightened. Don't have a clue why only turning wheel to left and not right. No PS, beats me!!!
Process of elimination, turn wheel to the left and get it to vibrate, shut the engine off and remove the belts then start the engine again to see if it's still there.
