Default 63 Tachometer conversion to eletronic???

I am looking at options to convert my tach in my 63 from cable drive to electronic
The parts for sale to do this in the catalogs are for years other than the 63 because
of the 63 housing

Any options out there for the conversion or places that can to it?
I want to use a non cable drive distributer when I set up my Sniper FI
Thanks
Glenn in San Diego

Do an advanced search. Wilcox Corvette does them or sells the kit. $300 in labor plus the kit. I think emccomas posted the thread.

Yes, Willcox can handle this. Let them do the work; sometimes it pays to have the professionals handle things.

Thanks but if you take a closer look this does not work for a 63

I am not sure what you are looking at that indicates that this does not work for 1963. Can you be more specific.

They can be adapted to work on 63 & 64"s. If you do an advanced search you find the answer. I think it was Mark6669 in Florida that shows how it's done.

Ah ha!!

I stand corrected

I did not see this link
https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...955-1974-27042
and this discription

1953-1962 mechanical tachometers to electronic. This will fit all years 53-62

1963-1964 tachometers can be modified, but the required modification is quite a task. You'll have to remove the jewel plate from the back of the tach and then enlarge the mounting holes in the movement to install. You will also need to cut the back of the housing and fabricate two mounting brackets. You can either pop rivet it to them to the housing or weld them in place. Professional installation is avaialble in house but the cost is quite expensive. If you elect to have us do this installation the charge is 300.00 plus the cost of this movement and shipping. You can see in the second picture below the alteration that needs to be made to install this movement on a 1963-1964 To review details of the installation visit this page.

1965-1974 mechanical tachometer, this will fit all years 65-74.

Look at the pictures here https://willcoxcorvette.com/corvette...955-1974-27042

It's the same unit for the 65-67. You have to cut a hole in the back of the housing, and move it back. (forward if you're looking at the front of the gauge). Wilcox does it with some welded/soldered brackets. You could also send the gauge to them, and they'll do it for you. Also, you can use any over the counter electric tach, and mount it in the housing ( which is what they're selling). You have to be a little creative, and have some fabrication skills, but it's really not rocket science.
