This was my first Corvette. Picture taken back around 1975. Before I had it painted I added that Ecklers front spoiler and the ducktail. There was a road near where I lived that I could run wide open. Before the spoilers at 120 mph I had to hold on with both hands to keep it in my lane. After the paint and spoilers I ran it up to 140 mph and could take my hands off the wheel. Couldn't believe the difference.

That looks good. I did the same but bought a piece of 3M automotive "wrap" in carbon fiber pattern for the outside of mine. Just another option for any others who may consider doing this.
Ahhh . . . NO! I've only driven it once since the install and had it up to . . . maybe 55. Actually, I drive like the old fart that I am - rarely do I drive over 70 - 75 in this car. May get a chance to do that over the weekend though - and will report back!

I'm also curious about that. And while I too am an old fart, I still like speed but have never felt comfortable over 100 with the front feeling light and darting about.

My plan all along was to also wrap mine with a carbon fiber . . . in fact, I did just that - bur was not satisfied with the results. Apparently I wasn't careful enough - I thought I had a perfectly clean surface, but somehow the glue on the wrap attracted some debris during the process - even something as small as a human hair "telegraphed" thru the wrap! . . . it looked like there were worms in the carbon. It looked horrible . . . I would tell anyone thinking about this to exercise extreme caution! I was not happy with the wrap and decided to peel it off and went with the "rubbery" coating!

Can that material be primed and painted with a matching body color? Actually, it would be my first "spray gun attempt"....

Thanks Doug! . . . .before the final coat of the Rust-oleum "Rugged Coat", I used a "filler primer" on mine - so, I'm sure it could also be painted with a body color paint. The actual surface of the spoiler is slightly textured - not perfectly smooth. Hope this helps!

Tom, regarding the Carbon Fiber wrap...could have been the product. I used a 3M version and a heat gun...regardless the textured results you have look great. And one could sand and paint it body color if they wanted. Whats funny about this is that it would be cool for someone to make a mold from it and create them in fiberglass or carbon fiber. I had a couple local guys say they wanted to do it for mine (virtually the same as you did), but haven't done that (yet).
Thanks for posting that! I've had an Eckler's fiberglass one on order for 2 months. I think I'll cancel it and go this route. I like the look better than a fiberglass one molded in. Great job.
In the 45 years I've owned my car, I've wanted to put a front spoiler on it for the last 30 of those years. Well . . . in celebration of National Corvette Day . . . today was the day!!! As a few before me have done, I started with the 69 Camaro front spoiler, cut 3 inches out of the middle, glued it back together with JB Weld "plastic bonder". I reinforced the back with glued in strips of abs to give it some strength and sprayed it with some Rust-oleum Peel Coat "Rugged Coat" which is intended for Jeep fenders . . . it;s a cool "rubbery" coating that should last for years. I think it turned out OK!!!
This is an Eklers spoiler, tough to see because the car is all black. I had to rework the ends of the spoiler because the parking lights were removed.
