Decoding numbers C1/C2
In the middle of an engine/gear box rebuild and came accross two numbers that I can not translate.
The engine is a 327/350 bored .030 over and had been ballanced many years ago. When I turn the bock over I can clearly see the numbers that the balancer stamped into the block next to each piston/crank location.
Unfortunately when this engine was machined, the machinist ground off the numbers just in front of the passenger side valve cover and they are lost forever so all I have to go on is the casting number on the rear of the engine:
389 2657 which tells me that this block is from a 66 something or other.
At the very back of the engine o the corner of the block is stamped: IO 6 F and while all of the balancing information is very easy to translate, I do not understand this sequence.
The Gear Box is Muncie M-20 all of the numbers make sense except --at the top of the main box are the numbers:
K 195 083
Any insight would be welcome.
Thanks
Eddie
Concerning the transmission date codes start with the letter P.
see this thread on the block casting number

You need to supply the block casting date.
Photos of any numbers is the best way to reduce much of the guess work.
