Default 63 simple question

Do you use a gasket between the door handle and the body? I remember a discussion about this before but cannot find the answer through a search.

Thanks

I remember Frankie saying no gasket on 63 door handles. Mine doesn’t have them but that means absolutely nitgphhing! 🙃🤫

Sounds good to me. I will go with that.

Thanks

There are definitely gaskets between the door handle and the body on a 63 Corvette from the factory. There is no gasket in the lock.

My '63 has gaskets under both door handles. Approximately March build date. Could have been a running change, or added at some point in its life for all I know.

Live well,

Another FtF swing and a miss. There were thin black rubber gaskets under all door handles on mid year vettes, but they should be barely visible.
This creates the impression in some people that there are no door handle gaskets. But there are, or should be.

Agreed. There are two gaskets under each door handle. They appear on page E9 of the '63 AIM:

But there are plenty of suppliers who list them for sale...... It is an excellent way to screw up your paint trying to force one on under the lock bezel.

Yes I am glad that I asked this question. That explains why one of my handles had what looks like an original gasket. the other one does not have one. I will buy a new pair.

Thanks to all for clearing this up.

My bad. Looks like I need to add some gaskets to my 63 door handles! 🤪
