Start Problem

Hi I have a starting problem....when I start the care it will not start until I release the key from start position. in other words it will not start until i quit trying. Ideas.......thanks , Wayne
The car is a 66 427 with TI Ign

Look at the wiring diagram for 66 and up at this site, suspect wire from starter solenoid

I'm with Mel on that one. Less likely but also possible is a bad starter solenoid.

Like they said, check the wiring and the connectors between the starter solenoid and the positive on the coil You must have an open connection

try connecting a jumper from the positive of the battery to the positive on the coil and see if it doesn't start immediately. It probably will
