All rear lights work except right rear brake light.
Problem began when I was told no brake lights by a following motorist. I found right rear bulb burnt to solid white color and no left brake light. Installed new bulbs both sides and all lights worked OK at first but now no right rear brake lamp. All else OK including right rear running light.
I confirmed another set of bulbs OK, installed the new lamps again, but still have problem.
If the tail light works, the ground is good. You probably have a loose or dirty contact in the turn signal switch. With the ignition OFF ( repeat OFF), get someone to help or somewhere you can see the brake lights. Step on the brake. Watch the brake lights and wiggle the turn signal switch. If it's bad inside, you'll probably see changes in which light works when. The contact point shown by the blue arrow works the right rear brake light. If the turn signal switch is not returning to the center position, you'll also get intermittent operation of one or both stop lights. Also check the connector just above the steering column where the turn signal wiring connects to the car wiring. Make sure the plugs are connected securely and no wires are loose in the connector.

PS, I should have confirmed, when you said all other lights ok, does that include the right rear turn signal? If so,l then follow the previous post. If the right rear brake light AND right rear turn signal don't work, post back. That's a whole other troubleshooting.

Simple. Thank you. Turn signal lever was accidentally placed in signaling position. I probably inadvertently knocked into it when adjusting the floor mat. Darn repro mats, too slippery. Over many years I've often had problems with brake light switches failing on both my 66 and 64 so I usually check whether brake lights reflect off the closed garage door before or after driving the car. In addition, I recently added an LED below the dash which is wired into the switch circuit and lights when the switch is working. It's mounted to the left air vent bracket and aligned so the steering wheel arm blocks my view of it **when steering straight ahead. An electrical engineer friend devised it. He added a resistor to minimize current draw. LED's are extremely bright and visible during top down sunny drives. Note that wood stick is depressing the pedal.
