Good morning, I am having my new radials installed today, but I’m actually trying to find the date off my old tires.
My old Silvertowns had a date code that ended in 5380. All the info I can find says that is the 53rd week of 1980.
I’ve been out of school for a while but 53rd week? Or is there a different method, I’ll post a picture.
4 digit date codes were introduced in 2000. That's why your 53rd week of 1980 doesn't work. The code may be on the other side of the tire or 180 degrees from the DOT code.
DOT CYN4 C2F5380
DOT - Department of Transportation
CY - Plant Code - MCCREARY TIRE & RUBBER COMPANY
N4 - Tire Size Code
C2F5 - Manufacturers Construction code
380 - Date code - 38th week of year ending in 0 (1980 or 1990)
Thanks a lot for the info. Going back on the history I know of my car the first registration that I could find was 1987 so 80 or 90 fits. Just helps validate my knowledge of the car.
