Default Silvertown date codes

Good morning, I am having my new radials installed today, but I’m actually trying to find the date off my old tires.

My old Silvertowns had a date code that ended in 5380. All the info I can find says that is the 53rd week of 1980.
I’ve been out of school for a while but 53rd week? Or is there a different method, I’ll post a picture.

That's the DOT number, not the Date Code. The date code will be in its own little balloon, either 3 or 4 digits total.

That's probably it, the search I originally used describes the date code as the last 4 digits of the DOT code. I'll have to look for more information.

Thanks

4 digit date codes were introduced in 2000. That's why your 53rd week of 1980 doesn't work. The code may be on the other side of the tire or 180 degrees from the DOT code.

Could it be 53rd week in 2020? Nothing else normal this year

I’ll have to look better next time I’m in the garage. Looking forward to seeing how the radials are after an alignment.

Thanks a lot for the info. Going back on the history I know of my car the first registration that I could find was 1987 so 80 or 90 fits. Just helps validate my knowledge of the car.

I have learned in the past few minutes more than I ever knew about old date codes on tires. I apologize for any mis-information I may have given!
