524 block casting

That's a '55 engine block.

It's a Tonawanda block designated in the stamp by "T55F" A Flint block would be F55F
I'm sure if you look at the block, you'll find both embossed and debossed "T" markings on it.

Yes, a single digit year in the date would indicate the block was a Flint casting.
However, the "T" in the pad stamping indicates the engine was assembled at Tonawanda.

begs the question. Are there any known original 55’s with T stamped engine pads.
Did Tonawanda assemble both Flint and Tonawanda cast blocks?

I 've owned a 524 block with a tonowanda stamp pad and yet a single digit for the year it was cast. it was out of an early 55 pass car. mike
