Why would you participate in a "facebook" Corvette group when you're a member here and can contribute and get expert help?

I too have survived without a "facebook" account. I'll think I can continue to get by without the "benefits".

I just thought I might be able to help answer some novice questions, but the drama, egos and misinformation is just too much.

Yes, it is a pretty worthless group, but with over 6,000 members just for C2s, ever once in a while you find one who will send you a PM and give you some good info, and every time I post a picture of one of my cars, I get over 1000 "likes".....

And...that is why Facebook is what it is. Those "likes" are compelling. Some cannot live without them it seems.

My collector cars aren't anything special, and certainly have never been out in the social media world. Neither one has ever had even one 'like'.
I'm almost embarrassed to admit I own them.

It's called facebook.
Great show. Actually the FBI had the monitoring system 15 years ago called “Carnivore”. It was too controversial so they backed of it. (That was the public stance at least.). You would be shocked at what can be gleaned just from one’s external IP address. No login or membership needed. Even popular VPNs can leak data. But what do I know I’m just a dumb azz Computer Scientist with decades of experience.

You're miles ahead of most of us about this. Sounds downright scary.

I wish that I could have given an infinite amount of likes on this post. Could not agree more!

I answered one question on one of those Corvette groups. Never again, simply not worth it D-Bags all over and simply wrong information being handed out.
Pretty much this, I didn't give a second thought to Marketplace until someone told me about it. Just snagged a Snap On 1/2" Split Beam Torque Wrench off there for $80 last week. Going to use this medium to purge my garage in the coming months of used parts and see how it does. I will say that 95% of the tools on there are junk or over priced but I'm not opposed to telling the seller here's the deal, I will give this price and here's why. A lot of the Marketplace sellers think their stuff is worth retail just because well I don't know why they think that but they do.

“squalid turpitude”.......... now there’s an appropriate and illuminating term I haven’t heard in a long while. Good one Dan.
