Does anyone know where I can buy a new ignition switch electrical connector/plug that connects to the back of the ignition switch on a 1963. In pulling my temperature gauge to fix it, I pulled the ignition switch for additional access and noticed that both the switch and the plug had obviously gotten a little hot and melted. I had a spare switch so I have replaced it but the connector remains damaged - it still functions properly but I would like to replace it for peace of mind.
I'd be concerned as to why your plug melted. It would be an indication that there is resistance possibly due to internal corrosion of the wiring. If the plug is still getting hot, you should address that and find the problem.
I did disassemble the original switch and there was a fair amount of corrosion on the inside. But, yes that is a good suggestion. I will check the existing plug on the next startup and if it is hot, I will try and track down the problem.
.
There is no need to buy a used harness just for the ignition switch connector.
You can buy a new ignition switch electrical connector plug from American Autowire for $8.00 It is the plastic connector which goes on the back of the ignition switch. I know that it works for a 67 but not sure for a 63. It should be very close or you may have to make a slight modification to make it work for a 63.
I have included a link to the switch below. Have fun with it. C.J.
I don't know how you guys with 63's do it. So many one year only parts; most of which are hard to find and very expensive. You guys have amazing stamina and endurance (and deep pockets).

Reason: Add some verbage
Thanks but the connector in your link does not look anything like the original! I am not sure how it would work. Maybe the switch on a '67 is different from a '63 - just checked and the back of a '67 switch is different from a '63!
I think I will try to get an used original first if anyone has one!.

Reason: added note on '63 and '67 definitely being different!
I didn't suggest he buy a used harness, the intent was if somebody had the connector by itself off an old harness... This is the only pic I have of one::

I did on my ‘64 and I have the connector. Unfortunately, my car and harness are in NY and I will not be back until May. Sorry man, I would send it to you if I was there. Assuming your wiring is still good, it is very easy to pull the wires and clip them into the new connector.

I'm sorry Frank. Poor choice of words on my part. I only meant that he may be able to buy something new instead of used. Just trying to help. Cheers. C.J.
Just to be sure, here is a pic of my ‘64. Sorry for the blurry picture, I zoomed in. Does your ‘64 look like this one?
Factoid, That would be it - looks like the '63 and '64 are the same. Thanks for the offer. I will continue to look and if I do not find one by May, I will let you know. I am happy to pay for the part and shipping!

C.J.,
Thanks for your suggestions, unfortunately, they will not work for a '63.
I would love to buy a new connector, I just can not find one!!

I get it my friend....when my bulkhead plastic connectors broke I had to buy the whole $129 Lectic Limited "repair kit" with new pins and all just to get a $4 piece of plastic...
I get why Lectric Limited will not sell individual connectors, they want to sell full harne$$es and kit$ and $uch but it does not create any good will towards them when one only needs a small item. Are they the only company producing harnesses for our cars?
To me this situation of not being able to find new connections has always been a mystery. Especially since there are companies making reproduction harnesses. They have to have access to the connectors. I have been looking off and on for years for the ignition switch connector for my '61 to no avail. I just simply don't understand. One of the mysteries of the universe, I suppose.
