He;;p, I am looking to see if anyone frome the Crown Point / Valeparaso Indiana area know this car or owner. It was listed on Facebook Marketplace. I was going to try to buy it then the ad said sold. I decided to try to recontact the person who had the ad and they said it wsant sold and were waiting to post again in the summer. I am mesaging with a very young man about it who says he is assisting the owner. It is supposedly and original owner car. I got the young guy to chat with me but when i pushed a bit to met the owner now he has ignored my requests. Supposedly has all the records of work done to the car over the years Realy would lke to make a deal but now wondering if something is not right. I thought maybe someone might know the car since it has been in that area since new.
OK, let's think about this. Somebody was supposedly selling the car. Why was it labeled sold, but the young kid says it wasn't sold after all? OK, maybe a deal fell through. But then you, a legitimate looker and possible buyer, is asking questions and interested. Why wait till summer to re-list the car on a site, when you are there now and are potentially able to plunk down your money now? Why would the kid NOT put you in touch with the alleged owner, and why would one or the other of them not return your calls?
You've been on the forum over 10 years, presumably you knew many of the right questions to ask. Scammers don't like those people, they want somebody who loves how the car looks but have no clue about what it's really worth. They'll get those people to send X dollars to hold it, or some other BS story. Quite possibly there is no "other guy" and the kid is trying to make a fast buck.
It's a sharp car and I hope you are able to find it and give it a good home. Just be real careful as you proceed.
