Solid spiders break too, no such thing as Bullet proof guys, sorry. However they're all I used in 1350 or 1480 for the vette.

30k miles is nothing for most u-joints driven within design limits. If it were me, I'd get the car on a lift, get the needle out, and lube them. They'll likely go another 60k miles easily, if not more.

I don’t think anyone claimed they are bulletproof or unbreakable, just that the solids are STRONGER than with the fittings.

C1's came built with the shield in the tranny tunnel for the reasons they break. Those joints were solid spicers. I've owned and repaired many C2 and C3 with the hole on the left side jack stowage , battery box. They are a weak point for drag racing, and weren't designed for the quarter mile. If replacing with a zerk fitting U joint the fitting has to be placed on the compression side during acceleration.. I prefer and install spicers without a greasable zerk fitting. My preference due to expierence.

I agree and have used plenty. Now so far, knock on wood, the 1480's haven't broken.
