A Standard brand replacement temp sensor was installed to replace the original factory unit. Checked with a laser temp gun (engine at normal operating temp) the original temp sensor still worked ok, but would read 1/4 scale on the temp gauge face @180 degrees.
Switching out the original temp sensor for the Standard brand unit now showed the temp gauge reading 3/4 scale @ 180 degrees.
Got old after a while so the thought was to try another Standard brand temp sensor as a replacement, or another different brand temp sensor.
A brand name WVE temp sensor was switched out for the installed Standard brand unit. The result was 1/2 scale, or 180 on the gauge face @ 180 degrees engine temp…….right where the gauge pointer needed to be. This WVE temp sensor was a good one that worked as it should.
