There were some recent posts about this. You know, it is wonderful. I went there in 2013 and swore to my wife we'd go back every year....we haven't....scheduled to go back in 2020, but with the virus goofiness didn't do it...as the folks who posted some points last month....its a great time, even if in California.....check this fello's video....two racing C2s at about .14 in....I know there are some on this forum who know the cars, maybe someone who owns....y'all have a good weekend....
Thanks for the video. I am heading over in a few days. This is a must go to event no matter what you drive. I almost go every year. This year will do the Mecum auction, 17 mile drive, Carmel, maybe Gooding Auction, Concourse de Lemons and finish at the Barnyard for the Ferrari wine tasting show. Sometimes just free style and end up at an unexpected event. Will be in triple black 2008 Vert maybe see you there.
I’m looking forward to spending four days there. I live two hours away, and its my first time to go to Monterey. I’m taking my 1970 Corvette, any advice on things to do or see. On Saturday I’ll attend the Historics Race.

I am pretty excited to be going down Tuesday, the 10th, for the Concours de Avenue and be able to walk around and look at all of the cars. Then on Friday, my '71 914-6 is entered into the Werks Reunion sponsored by the Porsche Club of America. My car will be judged for the first time. I hope people like it.

take pictures....of and with your car too...
I'm terrible at taking photos, I took 1st place (Restoration) at the Monterey kick off event in Pacific Grove. I’ll be heading down to Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca on Saturday. I’ll take more photos while I’m there.
Thanks for all your pics. I like the 63 FI split.
That's a nice drive for you. Maybe only an hour ?
It was a great drive. Left here at 11am and the mercury was heading up to what would be mid 90s in Morgan Hill. An hour later I was pulling into the hotel / golf course where the event was being held. The weather was cool and overcast. The marine layer burned off shortly after for an amazing day. I came home around 4pm. Back in Morgan Hill an hour later with temps in the low 90s. It didn't cool off until after 7.
Smooth drive. Traffic coming home was smooth sailing in my direction. Traffic going into Monterey was backed up for miles.
I went to the Historics on the 13th (know the Ragtime Racers) and it was $80 to get in.....on a Friday. (Sat and Sun were $120 per day!) Great event, except they made us park about a mile from the track entrance for no apparent reason (not crowded). When we left, the road was blocked and we had to take an 11 mile detour heading the wrong way, which put us in a bumper to bumper traffic jam on 68. It took two and a half hours to make the 40 miles to Casa DeFruita on the 152, after having to detour off of 156, which was gridlocked. Casa DeFruita was in lockdown because Covid with long waits and masks and separated tables at 25% capacity, so we bought some $4.95 per gallon regular gas and headed back to Fresno. Left Monterrey at 5pm, got to Fresno at 9:40 pm. Been doing this event since the 1980's and won't be doing it again. Too expensive, and TOO MUCH TRAFFIC.
Will instead spend time at Eagle Field and Famoso for the vintage drag events.
I attended the Historics several times between 2005 and 2013 and always went through Salinas on N. Davis Road to Reservation Road and found a road though Fort Ord barracks and wound around the back roads of Ft Ord and came out close to the main straight where the bleachers are located. Parked close to the entry gate and was in the pits in a matter of 15 minutes or so. Never had to wait longer than a few cars in front of me to pay the gate fee. Have they closed that route now?
