Default Windshield Washer Fluid

Looking for a little help. My windshield wipers are working but the washer fluid is not. When I press the button on the wiper **** nothing happens. What's really odd is that, after turning off the engine, washer fluid comes out of the washer nozzles for a few seconds. I confirmed that I'm getting good vacuum from the hose that leaves the hollow stud on the base of the carburetor (17 inches of mercury). I also confirmed that I'm getting vacuum on the hose that attaches to the back of the wiper ****. I'm thinking that my problem is in the coordinator on the wiper motor. If it is bad can they be rebuilt by a guy with average mechanical skills?

Replace the hoses if old and brittle. Blow out the lines. Stick a pin in the washer nozzle holes. My old Bowtie 62 sat for over 20+ years. Had judged twice with no action. Then one day it decided to work on its own. I always used distilled water. Empty system in the winter if located up North.

Thanks for the reply. My hoses are brand new as are the washer nozzles. Both the vacuum canister and washer pump are only a few years old. That's why I'm thinking its the coordinator.

The problem I had with mine is I think a ground thang. I think that button on the wiper switch connects to a lead wire on the multi pin plug on the wiper motor. When I rang it out it went to one of those pins. After cleaning off all the contacts it started working. Some one here can confirm if that button is a ground start pump connection.

Is this on a 53-54 with vacuum operated washer or on a later year with electrical?
