Default BP 383 Headers

Can I ask what you fellow BP 383 engine owners are running for headers ?
When I swapped from 305cid to the BP 383 I used the same Long Tube 1 5/8" ceramic coated headers but one of the primaries below is dented in pretty good. I never bothered to pull that plug and I'm sure I could have that header pipe cut/welded. I'd rather consider a new set.
Current set up is the popular BP 383 (430/450), Weaind Street Warrior Hi-Rise dual plane, 750 Holley 4150. I'm thinking to stay with Long Tube 1 5/8" primaries which is what BP used on their engine dyno. FWIW ...I'd likely port match the new headers to the BP heads.
I considered 1 3/4" primaries but this car is not raced ....it only spins to 5800 redline and I'd rather keep the TQ.
Thnx!

I’m using Doug’s with 1 3/4” primaries on my BP 427 sbc. They fit without any “massaging” and also clear the Borgeson PS box. Doug’s sells a 1 5/8” primary set also.

I had XS Power 2" Long Tubes on my BP383 in my 64 but plug changes were a PITA. I went to Doug's 1 3/4. Night and day difference. More room around the starter and plug changes are a breeze compared to the other brand.

I just measured the OD and it seems to be just slightly more than 1.5" from my old 305cid. That seems to look like I had 1.5" pipes in my old 305 SBC and that's not good enough for my 383. Maybe I'll pul them first and see if I can identify brand...but I'm assuming Summit. Whatever I was thinking back when I made the swap the BP 383 needs a new set of pipes. Since it's done at 5800rpm I'm considering a 1 5/8" pipes. Thanks for the advice fellas. BP only uses Sanderson headers as their heads are 1/2" higher like a Vortec head. But they are very expensive. I'm looking into Doug's & XS Power.......Good winter project (:->).

Did you guys have any oil filter clearance issues with Dougs? My collectors now are 2.5"...I'd like 3".
I have a shorty oil filter ...it's wrapped and so is my starter on the other side so heat should not be a factor. But any issues with removing oil filter?

Okay...I could've edited but chose to just repost. Doug's advised me there should not be any such clearance issues with their 1 5/8 Primaries / 3" collector headers.
Much Appreciated !

Here is a pic of my BP 427 sbc with Doug’s big tubes and a dual 3” exhaust. No clearance issues.

Wow....the care you take for your C2 is something to be recognized ! And...thanks for the pics. Now I feel compelled to include detailing the under body of my car during winter! I can see the clearance and intend to order Doug's 1 5/8 headers from Summit as they're $416 vs $444 on Doug's own website. What's terrific is Doug's provides all that is needed from collector downsize, to headers bolts, head & collector gaskets....makes the decision pretty simple! As in the past, I have & was planning on a thin coat of Copper Permatex between header gasket & heads but what I've read recently is not to use an RTV....just Permatex gasket adhesive ...which I also do have.
FYIW.....There are terrific heat shields available for our starters & oil filters that I currently have that prevent overheating from the headers which I will also re-install.
Much Appreciated Fellas..............

Does anyone have a part number of the Headers they’re using with the C3 and BPE 383 setup? I’ve called Summit, Hedman, Doug’s and they all say they don’t have a header for that application. Again, I have a 1982 Corvette and I’m running the Blueprint Engines 383. Preferably long tube. I know Sanderson has them but their long tubes have to be dimpled for spark plug fit. I’m not against doing that myself but prefer to find something ready to go. Thank in advance.

Might want to start a new thread...in the C3 section.
