It looks like somebody was going for a lift. Are the rear shackles reversed? Or does she sit bow high? One tapered shim is stock for caster assistance. They even skipped some of the bolts. I would be changing that whole mess.

Rex, My '57 has what is probably the original single tapered shim on each side, part #3733477. The front edge appears to be about 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick.
Thanks guys. I was wanting to lower the front end by 1 to 2 inches. These "shims"(?) / aluminum blocks are 1 inch thick, so if I replace them with the correct ones I may get it lowered where I want it, or close.
Rear shackles aren't reversed so the rear is at the correct height. Apparently there should be 8 bolts per side and there are only 7. Maybe the previous owner felt lucky with 7. Not me..........
Just how big a job is this? It doesnt look too bad................. just put a jack under the frame and raise one side, remove the bolts and shims and replace with the correct ones, then do the other side. Simple enough, or am I kidding myself?
Hey Rex,
You have the correct thinking on how to remove your big shims. The hardest part is getting to a couple of the bolts, I don't remember which ones. Depends on if you have engine installed or not also. And you will want to go with shorter bolts versus what is installed now. The tapered shims are readily available.

HOLY SMOKES !
Wow !
That is alot of caster !!!
There should only be one normally
You can get the shims and bolts thru Corvette Central
Did you drive that ???
How did it drive
Rex
Not hard to replace - use a tapered punch to line up your holes
Tightening can be a pain as the wrench cant turn much in the space before the wrench hits the frame rail

You need all the caster you can get if you are running radial tires.
