I've also used Stabil for years. In my cars, my lawn equipment and any gasoline storage. Never had any problems and always had good usable gas

So that season I skipped it in enlightened protest. That Spring the Impala's 20 year old 4GC needed a go-through and the Corvette was recalcitrant at its first start but fine since.

So I went back to it, but it's probably voodoo or the same reason I still pick up pennies.

Dan,
Yes he didn't know! Oil is heavier than gas and will NOT float to the top, but go to the bottom.
I can say that gas is about 6 lbs per gallon and oil is over 6.7 lbs per gallon. The secret is to keep both together in suspention, mixed! That's probably what the additive does to keep the fuel good.
I can say I flew since 1963 and gas was 6 lbs when you calculated the amount and jet fuel, was 6.7 lbs (diesel fuel). Did accident investigations where jet fuel was put in a gasoline plane and both engines failed because the oil based fuel went to the bottom.

Thank you Dom. glad I have the straight scoop on that. I use the Marine stuff, serious blue color. Figure it must be better...

Dan,
Your welcome, I have seen many crashes where jet fuel (diesel) shared the same vent as the gas and over flowed into the gas and setteled to the bottom. Then was pumped into the gas trucks and still setteled at the bottom. Was a no brainer 6.7 lbs were heavier than 6.0.
Sad, but the FAA only gets their checks direct deposited. I refused to work for them as most were wash outs.
