should I say take a cut off wheel to all four fenders and inner fenders and throw away the original frame and start over? I get what I said might have came off a little harsh or uncalled for. But anyone with a little car common sense can look at the two and know it wont work. you guys are quick to critique everything I say but yet none of you have met me. I don't get my panties in a wad one someone ask a original question and someone is quick to say these old cars suck in stock form. which happens a lot on this forum. do we need a new section for resto mods. no this place is dying off quick. if your skin is too thin to take a off the cuff comment you might want to go back to your bubble. there is a lot of people I should put on my ignore button but I don't I enjoy reading everyone's comment's even though I don't agree with most

Default That’s why I miss JohnZ

This is exactly the reason I miss John Hinkley. He seemed to know as much or more than the rest of the experts on this forum. He treated all the newcomers with respect, and answered everyone’s questions. Regardless if they seemed to be dumb. Never condescending, just the facts
RIP John

The correct answer was in post # 3 and you know that as well which is the way you should have answered rather than what you said. If you can’t be helpful just don’t answer.

To answer the question, you really cant get modern C6/7 wheels on a C2 with the factory suspension.

Any cars running C6/7 wheels in factory size and backspace are most likely running some sort of aftermarket chassis with large fiberglass wheel tubs, and potentially flared fenders. It can be done, but its definitely not cheap.

With an unmodified frame and fiberglass body, you're really stuck in the neighborhood of 7 inch wide wheels with 4 inches of backspace.....give or take depending on the car.
Thank you for and informative straight answer unlike
many of the rest

Welcome! Stick it out. Sometimes the ride is a bit bumpy but well worth it.

But it is always a few rotten apples that seem to be the first ones to respond. Kind of sad, really. Nothing better to do I suppose.

Take it from me....being nice pays off. I sent an email out about a C2 Cookout and look what happened!!!

Wait, What? I didn't get invited?????

I forgot what we were talking about!

So you can run the wheels you are talking about with stock suspension "BUT" there are some things you have to modify. First and foremost your fenders either flares or widened quarters. Next offset trailing arms and then the correct spacers. Thats it your done piece of cake. Now go get the sawzall and start cutting

FlyNavy, a couple of years ago I was a newbie on this Forum and asked a boatload of stupid questions. I received many of the same unkind responses from the same individuals on this thread. Over the years you have always been gracious, kind and willing to help with the dumbest questions. My hats off to you and I agree with every one of your posts on this thread. Thanks very much for your incredible patience.

Nice.

But I do want address these points. Duke mentioned starting a restomod section. Im all for this, but I dont know if we are there yet. Maybe Ill bring it up again today.

However, as of today, regardless of your opinion, restomods have everything to do with C2s these days, from builds to sales to auctions to chatter. And dont mistake me for a restomod guy defending them… I dont care for them and rarely read restomod related content. But in the small forum that is C1/2 (one that combines this content due to size and traffic), restomod questions and conversation absolutely belong here and not in a generic forum somewhere else.

So, I suggest if you happen across a thread asking about putting C6 wheels on a C2 and find it objectionable, do what I do and move on to another thread. Rudely attacking the poster is the wrong strategy.
