New to C2's. Need to change the regulators that open and close the vent windows on my 64 coupe. Mine feels like the gears are stripped. Anyone done this replacement? Is there a thread on this forum on the replacement procedure?
thanks,
It's usually from over tightening the handle when you open or close it.
I took mine out and rebuilt them.
If I remember correctly; The end opposite from the handle is swaged and loosens. I drilled and tapped the handle shaft and used a SS: 6 - 8 or 10 - 32 Butten head Allen with a fender washer to tighten up the handle shaft.
5 years and no issues.
Once you remove the door panel - it's easy to remove the unit.
Screw / pin for attaching to the window frame. Turn it for access .
3 screws, unit comes out. you don't have to remove the window.
I used 222 Purple Loctite - the weakest.

There is a lengthy and very helpful tutorial about the door windows and vent windows. I have mine printed off and did not print the thread url where it came from. it's by member Dave Zuberer whose name is something like Dave Z, or Davez. Sorry I can't give you the whole answer but somebody on here will see this much and get you the rest of the way there.
Thread https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...w-rebuild.html includes the following post: The ones Zip sells are left and rights and made in USA , topflight ones are either direction and not made in america so i believe there is no stop built into them so the window will just keep opening .
The ones zips sells now don’t have the stops either, I had to return them and purchase the correct ones on eBay . This really only matters if you are going to have your car judged

thanks everyone for the reply's. I don't plan to use the windows as I have AC. I wouldn't bother with them at all but neither side closes completely. They are open about an inch. So I will do the rebuild.
thanks again.
