Getting back on topic.... a car this early with an original big tank would HAVE to be a Z-06. The big tank was not unbunded to a separate option until January at the earliest.
So is this car a real Z-06 or was he big tank added in the field? Does it have the easy to recognize HD drum brake system and HD suspension parts?
They didn’t start in stalling big tanks without Z06 until well after your car was built. I think you said back in a 2005 post that Franz had come down to look at it and determined it unlikely to be an original big tank car. That’s probably as expert an opinion as you’ll find anywhere, so I’d stick with that. Or if you doubt his opinion I’d suggest you pay one of the few other experts on this to come over and inspect the installation, it’d be worth your while.
If it’s an original ‘63 fuelie non-Z06 coupe, though, it’s worth a bundle today in it’s own right…good luck.
I’m sure Franz is very knowledgeable, but I did have other so called experts personally see the car, such as KD James and a fellow from Maryland fly in, what I do know is that it is indeed a fuel car, power brakes, radio delete, racing seat belt, had rear scoops on quarters, big block hood, side pipes w/o covers, Sebring Silver dark blue, front fender opening schaved slightly, right quarter was replaced, front bumpers removed. The engine I installed years ago is a radical 301 which lately is becoming hard to start so it’s time for a period correct 327.
