Thank you!! I like the color too. I've seen way too many red corvettes in my life!! There aren't any Corvette inspectors anywhere in my area from what I seen so far. All are in big cities.

How do you search a VIN that is pre-1980 and not 17 digits long?

Curt -- I bet if you mention your approx. location, someone here might be able to point you in the right direction. Crazy small world of corvettes and the passion is off the charts to help people interested. Check out this thread, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...gine-code.html

I drove a Green on Green Coupe going into the AZ Mecum auction and it was beautiful. The green blends to black in the right light.

Exactly!! I liked how it sort changed from green to black in the right light. I used to drive an old Plymouth Fury in HS that was a dark Metallic green & it reminds me of that car!! I couldn't afford a Corvette back then!! I'm located in SE Kansas (Pittsburg, KS.) if anyone knows a C2 Corvette expert in the area!!

Nice looking C2. Corvettes do rust, birdcage and frame rust can be deal killers. If you do not have a clear idea on what the kickup area is on the frame have a look at this thread posts #1 and #16.
C2 Frame Rust - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion
If you have the time read forum member McCarley's thread. You will come away better educated. He is fortunate to have the talent, shop space and tools plus the perseverance and patience to do most all his own repairs. If you don't have the time to read all the thread start with page 29, post #580 and skim read and scroll down from there.
My 1965 Rebuild - Page 29 - CorvetteForum - Chevrolet Corvette Forum Discussion

Check out Mid Year Mitch. He repairs a birdcage in this video.

If you go to look at the car, examine the entire perimeter of the door openings, you don't want to see any blisters which indicate a rust issue brewing. Look in the drip rail area for evidence of the sealant caulk cracking or missing. Green maybe a hard color to see rust stains on the hinge pillars so examine this area in good light. On the frame check the kickup and the frame area in front of the kickups. You might be able to team up with a knowledgeable forum member that lives close to the car in Oklahoma or with a corvette club member out of Tulsa or OKC and see the car together.

There are many items to check on any C2 and as others have stated paying someone to inspect the car is a wise move.

You can contact Roy Sinor in Tulsa, OK. He was the national NCRS judging chairman for more than a decade (retired) and still sells exceptional cars. He has forgotten more than most will ever know. He does physical inspections as well as remote inspections if you send enough photos and info for him to review. He might even know this car since he lives in Tulsa. He has a beautiful 1967 yellow BB for sale in the Sale/Wtb section of this forum with his contact info and if you can't find it PM me.

Regardless of price, you need to have someone qualified look at this car. Poncho and Roy are the only guys I know of, although there are many more around the country.

Thanks to all of you for all the information. I will definitely try to watch those videos. Do you know of any way to contact Roy Sinor in Tulsa. It would only be a couple hours away from him to meet & see the car. If I know where to take pictures of everything I can possibly send him pics by phone if he can't be there personally.

As a side note because I missed it if it was mentioned in a previous posting; a St Louis body would be a factory candidate for side pipes. The A.O. Smith bodies were not notched for the side pipe option.
You did not show the other trim tag. If it starts with an "S" on the body# good chance it could be a factory side pipe car.
If it starts with an "A" probably added but again who cares they look great!

Is this the TRIM TAG?? Since it starts with A, it must have had the sidepipes added later!!

Even with a St Louis Body, for the 1965 model year, side pipes were not available before VIN approx 10,000. FWIW.

The vin tag appears to be a real GM vin tag. The trim tag just to the left of the vin tag also has a lot of info about the car. A picture of that tag would also be helpful.

The pic is of an AOS body..............so side pipes were added after factory production.

Although they look cool, many side pipes have a raspy exhaust tone that gets very annoying after awhile. The GM factory pipes (made by Walker) were better than later replacements. The GM ones have part numbers on the pipes near the engine. The stock side pipe will also restrict horsepower...........more on a big block............but still HP will be reduced with side pipes versus a proper under car exhaust system.

depends on your requirements.. if you require a nuts and bolts all original car then these expensive inspectors are worth any high price they might charge. if you are looking for a corvette that is in good condition then even I could help you.
the secret is to buy in at the right price and both types of car will appreciate in value in their own way. Nothing wrong with an entry level car that is in good condition at the right price. if you don't care if the bellhousing bolts have the correct markings on them.

Protectoplate was in the owner's paperwork, and acted like one of the old charge cards which you rolled the thingy across to imprint the info.

And yes, that's the trim tag in your pic.

The seller has been pretty up front with me letting me know it's an NOM motor. But he bought from an older gentleman several months ago & has had a few minor things fixed on it before listing it for sale. He was originally wanting 65K for it, but we settled on 58K for it. Does that sound like a decent price if it runs well & has no major problems? I am basically looking for a decent C2 to drive around occassionally. I'm not going to just stick it in a garage & never drive it. I don't expect it to be a show car. I already own a 1974 C3 Stingray & a 2016 Z06 Corvette. I have another car for a daily driver.

Who anointed you as a expert on desirability in car colors? Your mother? Sure, change the car to a non-conforming color will increase it's value, what a toon.

I got a better picture of the trim tag where you see more of the information. I'm not sure what the J21 means.
I think it has to do when it was produced. Also not sure what the A-3388 Body means.

The "A" before the body # means it was made by A.O. Smith... So the side pipes were not put on at the factory, but probably by the dealer...

P.S. LOVE the Glen Green!!!
