Ordered a new ignition switch and key cylinder from ZIP PRODUCTS for my 67. I learned how to remove the old switch from this forum. Now I am trying to figure out to install the key cylinder into the ignition switch. HELP PLEASE!
Try putting the key in the new cylinder, then put it in the ignition switch at the accessory position. I think that is how I did it a couple of years ago.
Just went out to the garage and verified you DO have to have the key in the cylinder to install it in the switch. You do not have to push in on the brass pin. Line it up with where it was when you removed it from the old switch and lightly hold in and turn it clockwise a bit until it slips in. You might want to compare the old switch with the new as far as grooves for the cylinder to make sure they are the same. I am not sure they didn't change things over the years. Some switches like the 066 were one year only I believe, but that may have just been electrical connections.
