I know there have been several threads about new carpet kits installations. I have a question on using DAP Weldwood contact cement does it allow you some placement time or is it like 3M adhesive spray where it's immediate contact no moving the piece? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Dave
Would tend to agree with EasyRhino. I did read (on here?) a method of using double sided tape on one side while positioning the carpet, then fold the untapped side over, apply contact cement to half. Once stuck, flip the tape side up, remove tape, apply cement and roll that half in place. I have no experience yet.

As compared to the 3M adhesive, I prefer the DAP. The vinyl piece that is glued under the rear window in a coupe ('64) did not adhere well with the 3M but the DAP so far has been perfect.
