But honestly I get more waves now from just other old cars. Chevy, Ford, Mopar.....doesn't really matter what...
So true. I exchanged waves with a guy in a Cobra a few weeks ago. Thirty years ago that would never have happened. But nowadays we recognize that anyone driving an old car like these is a kindred spirit.
I wouldn't have it any other way. I'll wave at all Corvettes, but I feel more in tune with that guy in the Cobra.
I commonly get a "thumbs-up" from Civic, Subaru, Hyundai, and other routine-type car drivers out getting their groceries, and taking their kids wherever. Always makes me feel good to know the old classic cars still garner some respect and admiration.

And perhaps one of those drivers is thinking "Damn, I should have driven the Vette today instead of this car!"
Here's another factor. There have been times when, after looking at traffic, the speedometer, rearview mirror, adjusting the AC or whatever else, I realize a Vette just went by and I didn't wave. No snub intended, just focused on some other part of driving at that moment. Which is why I don't get at all upset if I don't get a wave from someone else - it's just not worth worrying about.
If you drive a "NEW" or newer Vette don't be offended if I don't wave at you , I just don't recognize them as a corvette. They look like any other car on the road. Should have changed the name on the C8 for sure. Sorry but true.
I don't know. I think I'm noticing a difference.
While the C8 is certainly not everybody's Corvette isn't it better than no Corvette?
As far as the wave goes with today's current road manners you can expect more middle fingers from most drivers than waves from Corvette drivers.
With that logic, you shouldn't recognize any C2 Corvette or newer Corvette since you have a C1. A Corvette is a Corvette and styles change, accept it.
I didn't stop waving to them when I got my C7
I sold my 57 and own a C2 now (66) . I like all vettes through C5's . Nothing newer. Especially not the C8's .

You are missing the point about the C6, C7 C8 looking like any other car on the road. A C6, C7 or C8 just don't catch my attention like a classic corvette does when it blows past .

Yeah, well Corvette owners (I have been on since 1969) have rightfully so been known as snobs and very often for good reason. Even NCRS participated in it when they formed and excluded cars later than 1962. It took a long time before they included even the midyears.
I think it has been going on since forever. I recall the same discussion about 1969, when the complaint was "Sharks never wave at Stingrays and older Vettes!"
That's true.
When a new generation Vette is released, it's a shiny new object to people with money wanting to look cool.
Sometimes it takes a little time for them to get into the hands of real Vette lovers!
Begs the question:
Was it staged….how was engine water ingestion kept at bay? Harry Callahan do I feel lucky musta been at the wheel. At any rate, impressive show wow!
