Welcome to the CF! Maybe it has been replaced and done incorrectly. or it's factory mis-stamp. Show us a clear picture. Dennis

Are you talking about the VIN tag on the Z bar or on the state registration/title form? Since your thread title is "vin reg #" which could be interpreted either way. Like others have stated, a picture is worth a thousand words

Welcome Bill. Does your 66 still have it's riveted VIN and Trim Tags under the glovebox? Like the other guys said, post up a pic of it.

It should have 12 numbers, and the letter S. 194677S123456 as a hypothetical example.

On what? On the title, or on the Vin tag? Before the S you should only have one 7, the letter just before the letter S should be a 6. To answer your question you have to tell us on what are you missing a digit. See the next post for a breakdown.

Why don't you just tell us what number you have if you can't or won't post a picture.
ALL 66 coupes start with 194376S1 and then the 5 numbers for the build sequence (serial number)
ALL 66 convertibles start with 194676S1 and then the 5 numbers of the build sequence (serial number)

For 1966:
VIN Range 194376S100001 – 194376S127720
1 (First Digit) Make/Manufacturer. 1 – Chevrolet
9 (Second Digit) Model series. 9 – Corvette
4 (Third Digit) Engine type. 4 – V8 Engine (all types)
37 (Fourth and Fifth Digits) 37- Corvette Coupe or 67 – Corvette Convertible
6 (Sixth Digit) Model Year. 6 – 1966
S (Seventh Digit is always the letter S) Vehicle Assembly Location. S – St. Louis, Missouri
1 (Eighth Digit) Place holder is always 1 on all C2 Corvettes
XXXXX (Seventh thru Thirteenth Digits) Plant Build Sequence Numbers.

Good catch, my hypothetical example was wrong because I had it in my head he had a '67. He clearly states '66, flies on me.

Once again, on the title/paperwork or on the actual VIN tag under the glove box?

Well it's good news and bad news. Your car is registered as 19467s127042. If your vin tag under the glove box shows this too, then there is no problem registration-wise. If your vin tag shows 194676s127042, you might want to get the title corrected.

There have been 6 requests for a picture and 5 requests where the missing digit is located, on the metal VIN tag or on the paperwork. Until that is clearly addressed, it's a crap shoot.
