This is the hard top that was sold with the car from Pro Team Corvette 2008. It's my understanding the vinyl top wasn't an option until 67?? And this car should have a body colored top with red headliner. This top has just been recovered. Needs weatherstripping.
Absolutely beautiful '65!! The knock off wheels and red leather really add to the look and class. I hope you get years and years of driving enjoyment out of her
BTW, the company listed below has some original jacks for sale and is, also, reproducing correct jacks for our C2s...check them out.
I am a little confused on the partial VIN stamping.. The manual states a 5 for 65 and last 4 of VIN. The S is not used.
It appears that the "832" portion of the VIN are not visible on the stamp pad. Could be they are just obscured by paint. You can remove the paint from the pad to verify, but don't do any scraping. Just use a rag and some lacquer thinner. You don't want to damage the surface if it's an original stamp pad.

My 66 L72 Roadster originally came with both tops but the PO who owned it since the 80's moved from New Jersey to The Villages in Florida and figured he wouldn't need the aux hardtop so sold it off.
I come along and buy the roadster but always liked having both tops. Found another forum member out in Pasadena that had one that came with his 65 Roadster and I bought it.
It was in pretty bad shape needing everything but...it turned out to be a 67 top and had decent condition Black Vinyl on it so that was the only thing I didn't mess with and I actually like the contrast of the black top
over the Nassau Blue, just like the Black Soft Top is a contrast to Nassau Blue. Wound up doing a lot of cleaning, new headliner, weatherstrip, new rear window, buffing out the stainless and painting the underside of the hardtop and the inside trim but in the end, I like it even if it isn't an original painted top.

Ted
Ted you couldn't have been more correct. Paint indeed!
Gentleman after a more thorough cleaning of the pad I think we have a winner. What say the experts here?
So, my VIN is 12218 ( 65 Coupe ) and the body sequence # is S2240. His VIN is 12832 and the body sequence # is S4142. 614 unit different in the VIN and 1902 difference in the body sequence #. Can that be correct? Seems like an awfully big disparity. Just curious, I am no expert, Also, in my opinion the trim tag looks too new. Here is a pic of mine.
This car has great documentation with no gaps of ownership since new. I have not looked for the build sheet as of yet. It may be on top of the fuel tank since the body has never been off the car.
Build sheets didn't appear on the gas tanks until 1967. Beautiful car. I was only wondering why there is such a big difference in the body sequence #. Was hoping NCRS guys would clarify. Like I said. " I am no expert "

It's a bit difficult to read the date code on the OP trim tag. OP is that a K19 or H19 build date on the upper left of your trim tag?
