You can't compare body sequence from coupe to convertible.

Thank you. A fact that I did not know.
Out of curiosity, what is the general rule for body sequence # vs VIN #

Rick I was curious about that too. Doesn't the fuel injection air filter go there? Would the inner fender be pre punched and the bracket affixed even if the car was not a fuel car?

I don't think there is a "general rule". The body sequence numbers are separate for coupes and convertibles. There will be duplicate numbers throughout the sequence until the last body of either is produced.

Default New Guy to a '61 Corvette

HI All,
Good morning. Just another day in Paradise. Just traded for this matching numbers 1961 Corvette. Puts a C1 and a C8 in the garage. I am sure I will need some help with this one. Have a great day.

Dave can you please post a picture of the bracket mounted on the drivers side inner fender well. Maybe someone here can identify it.

Thanks

I have no idea what the reinforcement bracket for the '65 FI air cleaner looks like but take a look at a page out of the '65 AIM and see what you think. It references dimples that are on all '65 inner fenders where you drill the two holes for the reinforcement bracket #2 on the page.

Can someone with a 65 FI car please confirm if the bracket pictured above is for the FI air cleaner assembly.

Thanks

I have a 63 and I think it is similar to a 65. I don't think the pictured bracket is for a 65 FI car.

Welcome. Very nice car welcome - looks pretty much done. There are several Mopar guys here including me. Even one guy who managed to find a Corvette with a first generation Hemi squeezed in it. And even a few Ford guys. They are all good.

Leif I agree that it looks very similar and in the correct location. This however is not a fuel car so therein lies the confusion. I found a reference where factory A/C cars for 65 had the voltage regulator moved to that location so I am trying to determine if that is a bracket that the voltage regulator mounts to. Also the inner fender lip does not look normal to me. Can someone please post a picture of a 65 showing that location of the inner fender with the lip.

Thanks
Jay

Jay,
The three holes to the right of the bracket is where the VR would be attached...see pic below.

I have the car and I can tell you the voltage regulator in that photo posted it's much farther back than the 3 holes on this car.

Lief your voltage regulator holes seem to be closer to the firewall side and the OP picture seems to show them closer to the radiator side. I still have not be able to 100% confirm what the bracket is there for. Can you post a picture of your inner fender lip so that I can compare it to the OP picture.

Thanks
