Default Better dash lights

My eye sight is not getting any better with age and especially at night.

I know there have been countless threads about LED bulbs for dash lights and some don’t allow the headlight reostat to dim the lights and I don’t know if there is a fix for that or if it has been corrected somehow? I don’t HAVE to have them dim as usually I have them turned up as bright as they go anyway.
So, rather than having to sift through all these old threads is there a simple answer on the best (brightest) bulbs to order, from who, part numbers and colors and anything else pertainent?

These for cluster and clock illumination.

https://www.ledlight.com/ba9s_2_5_wa..._led_bulb.aspx

These for Hi beam and turn signal indicators and the radio dial

https://www.ledlight.com/ba9s-5-ultr...led-light.aspx

Use incandescent 1816 for the heater/radio control illumination

Use incandescent 3886 for the cig lighter and the ign switch illumination. If you keep those 3 incandescents, mentioned, all the lights will dim well with the control.

Keep incandescent bulbs in the LIGHTS and BRAKE because they are reverse polarity and the above LEDs won't work.

There are brighter LEDs if you're not happy with the clock brightness.

I love my LED dash lights. Haven't missed the dimming feature once. I think I've only used that in cars when I was up to no good, and I'm far too old for that now

I used the 3400k versions. They look ok in the instrument cluster and the clock, they sorta match the light on the radio and heater control bezels. Also put in LED replacements for the courtesy lamps, and those look a bit "off", but not enough to be ugly.

There are a couple of recent threads on the subject with pics and it's obvious the poster used the 6000k versions. Those look really good, the color works well with the green tinted paint inside the cluster. If I were going to do it over I'd use the 6000k bulbs.

And I'm not doing it over. My old man skin is still showing spots from doing that work back in July. It's worse than the OP's fading eyesight... lol

My eyesight prohibits me from driving at night. Period. So I don't worry about these things.

I avoid driving the Vette at night, worth too much money. Plus, the deer like to run at night.

from my experience in rally , the more inside bright white light the less you see outside in the dark.
So i would rather dim my gauge lights instead of putting there brighter bulbs.
My copilote uses of course a small light to see his notes , but on right hand turns this can be very scarefull. I see to much light reflected on the windscreen and almost nothing in that dark right corner.
And more, who read gauges during a night drive ?
