Console buddy. .. Having gotten used to having a center arm rest in the DD cars, not having an arm rest in the Vette feels like a no place to put your arm 'hole'.

Cost…$0.00. The extra material was doing nothing so was put to use. Dimensions 15” L x 5” W x 4” H.

I like your idea, but not the execution. Looks like it would be better suited in a truck or Jeep.

I put short Long Mfg. units in my cars, so the existing padded arm rest lines up great, very ergonomic. Too need such a tall, truck grade unit, how tall is your shifter?

Isn't that hard on your girl friend's posterior? Oh well, I don't know how the stock pad attaches to the tunnel, but thought about adding a box similar to yours on the tunnel and using the pad on the lid. Can't be that hard is it?

Nice idea but I would have saved the leather for the new box.

Easily removed and installed in place the box was meant to be used on extended cruises. The legs slide in place between the seats with the box resting directly above the pad. Gear shifts with the stock Muncie linkage and arm resting on the pad are easy.

I prefer one that matches my interior. I also like the cup holder. I did install a taller shifter.

I like the shorter version of the Classic console item so my seat belt holders can be exposed....Love it, matches well.

For a homemade box the stock factory pad on top of a box installed on top of the tunnel could work. The thickness of the pad might require the hinge be installed at the rear of the box lid instead of a side mounted hinge to allow 90 degree opening. Double sided tape should work well for holding pad in place.

The commercially available upholstered center console the vendors carry was considered. Functional and adds a nice touch to the interior. Still
considering going with one of those.

There was one of those in my ‘65 when I bought it. I found that it hampered my shifting. I couldn’t get rid of it fast enough.

The console from Classic Consoles for the C1 looks great. Padding and rest for your elbow, extra hidden storage, and a cup holder with a nice looking finish.
Better to order directly from them rather than Cupholdersplus.com because there are allot more custom choices in terms of colors, grains, trim ring finishes and cup holder sizes.
I missed their 15% off sale so I'll prob wait till January.

I have the black one with a cup holder and it is great and matches the interior. That aluminum one looks like it belongs in a work truck with no top on it. The aluminum color does not match anything in the car and you had to add another layer to make it soft. Why not just buy the nice one that matches your car and sell that one to a tow truck company?

No issues with the automatic transmission. The blue is a close match too.

If Porsche didn't see fit to put a center console armrest in their real cars (i.e., pre-1999), I don't know why a real Corvette needs one.
