We have a 56 with a block casting code of 3720991 and the manufacturing date stamp shows 0004i53f57f. The manufacturing date stamp is on at the front, where the head meets the block on the passenger side of the car.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t the original block, but I need some clarification. is it original or not, when was this block manufactured?
the VIN of the car is E56S004110, built in August of 1956.
Most Corvettes have a two letter suffix and this has one. The number is not a date code but a serial number from the factory. Flint block is a plus. A 56 book should give an approximate date assembled. The block date code is on the top of the block near the distributor.

Sorry, I thought you were speaking of an EARLY built 1956. That would be highly unlikely to have an 11 month old engine installed at the factory and NCRS does not recognize the big of a time span.
This is a passenger car motor. No 56 Corvette motor was cast that early. (If you go with NCRS guidelines they allow six months). Casting and assemby of motors are usually wihin two weeks or less. Assembly of motor and build date of a corvette are also usually within a couple weeks.

I didn’t think it was original, but at least the block’s from the same decade.
