Go for it. Think of it as a big plastic model car. Strip it down to the frame and work your way back up. Take pictures of every part you replace so you know where it goes and what it looks like. These cars are very simple. The beauty is... if you screw up something... you can always take it off and start over. And... when you're done... you'll have a 500 page picture book and some great stories to talk about.

Way, way, WAY beyond anything I would ever take on, or even contract to have performed. The question of salvage title is also a factor even after all the work and money to fix it. Now if you are very skilled, have lots of time and resources to do all this work then it could be a hill you want to climb just for the enjoyment and self-satisfaction. Me? I couldn't pull that trigger.

Guys, not my first corvette rodeo, old NCRS chassis judge here. Frame is fine.... taking my time....just bought it today. I am still in the evaluation process and may sell the project. Thanks for all the valuable input. Good thing is it is complete, nothing missing.

"am I crazy?" What a loaded question! IMCO I think we all are to a point other wise we probably wouldn't be here.
Some of us just hide it better than others.
About your project I agree with the others as far as a salvage title goes. If it's a salvage title IMCO it's worth the time, effort, and money. If it's not salvage then only you can decide if the overall commitment of what it's going to take to bring this back to life is going to be horrifying or gratifying.
Good luck what ever you decide.

You have not disclosed the status of the title which is a huge thing.

i would make a list of ALL parts needed.... and calculate total cost for those parts . Then a repaint which most of us don't DIY
Would the final result be worth it compared buying a car in "good" condition ? i don't know.
PS seen projects started because they could buy it that cheap....while mostly that price is neglectible compared to what follows.

I would say car is not worth it unless it would of been a L-88 not a base car

As said above, I think it will be a great project. I showed my wife, and she said "Yes, he IS crazy!" I told her 2 years from now you'll pull it into our driveway just to show her otherwise!
