Drivers vent cable question
Is this correct? It hangs down a bit and my foot catches it when using the clutch sometimes. The **** is on an angle.

No. For starters it looks like you have the cable for the right side air vent crossing over to the left side vent. I don't see a cable coming out the back of the pull **** on the left side - that is the one that should connect to the left vent - and there is a small bent steel clip that goes on the hood pull cable and holds the vent cable in place - up and out of the way. You are missing that too. I am going to guess that someone rerouted the right side cable, cut it to a better length and connected it to the left side vent. They cut it too long. You may be able to switch the pull ***** - just put left to the right side and right to the left side. If the cable was previously cut it will really be too long - you will have to cut it again - and get the clip. Also - that cable that services the right side - it ain't cheap. Good luck.

On second look, I see a cable coming out of the left pull ****. It goes straight back and up towards the firewall. What is it connected to, what does it do? I hope it is not the hood latch.

Possible - if it originally was the right side cable it is definitely long enough to reach a carburetor. I hate to tell you, installing the passenger side cable is a PITA. up and back behind the radio and behind the glove box - there is a lot of stuff back there, not easy to feed through. I would check to see if the one mounted on the right is the correct cable for the left side. The **** and cable are all one integrated part - you can't just buy a cable. Available but, $$$$$ pretty price for a piece of dumb hardware.

not likely. Car was a top flight winner three times and Duntov winner in the 1980’s. I need to look at another 65 coupe to see what’s going on. On the right vent **** the cable pushes out the back of the holder. You have to hold it with your hand and push it back in.

Here is a schematic of the left and right vent cables - copied from the Paragon catalog - which was copied from the AIM - hope this helps. Couldn't find a drawing that included the coupe vent ****.

the one on the far right works the rear fan/vent. This works good but it may be aftermarket. The middle **** works the drivers vent and I just broke it. The passenger one works fine. Looks like just need the drivers cable with underdash mount

You need the small clip that goes on the far left cable and connects it to the hood release cable - not expensive at all. I hate those vent cable mechanisms - they are very rigid and it is difficult to get the ***** oriented straight and to say in position. Be careful with the two screws that secure the **** bracket to the bottom of the instrument cluster. The hole in the cluster is threaded and it is pot metal - quite soft - easy to strip. If you do strip one (or more) you can effectively use those flat metal pieces that have a hole stamped into them - the screw will thread on to the metal piece real easy.

I tried twisting the mount and it snapped
maybe a 63-64 fits but with a different ****

From your signature it appears you are talking about a 1965. If this is the case they’re should be two cable ***** on the left side of the steering column and one on the right side. One on the left side is for the left side fresh air vent and the other is the one for the exhaust vent that exhausts air out of the cabin and exists out the vent behind the drivers door on the pillar. That cable only pulls out a very short distance as it is the blower speed control.

I believe that on a '64 & '65 Coupe with the standard rear power vent that your left side fresh air cable mount has the serious twist in the bracket like you show in your photo above.
