RPO Z06 in 1963 included a modification to the right and left upper inner wheelhouse area wherein the preformed fiberglass was removed, and replaced with a hand-laid fiberglass patch. This had the effect of slightly widening the inner wheelhouse area to accommodate wider (ie. racing) tires. At the same time, the right and left rear fender forward lip edges were ground down, also to accommodate wider racing tires.
The reason for this question is because my very early tanker (3022) has a added patch on the underside of each quarter panel and on the top side there is evidence coming thru the paint of a circle about four inches in diameter, so I’m not sure the reason is for these 2 patches toward the rear part of the quarter panel.
