The wiper switch in my just '64 separated into two parts. I have it out, but don't know which way the brass (?) part in the middle goes. Does anyone have an exploded view of this damned thing? It's obviously not an original part.
Thanks.
If it's already not the original, and just came apart, you might want to get a replacement. I know that's not a guarantee of perfection but for under $75 it might be worth the shot.
If its the factory switch....Mine came appart when trying to unplug it for removal. It had been appart before and not properly crimped. I have pictures of how it goes together. Picture in the vice is ready for reassemble. Big-K
Thanks, Big-K. The pictures are great, but bring sadness to this garage, as it appears we are missing a piece. This is the second time the switch has come apart. First time was a couple years ago. It went back together so easily, I just stuck the pieces back together and reinstalled the switch into the cluster & cracked open a beer to celebrate another victory. This time, when I got everything out, I had only one of the brass-ish looking plates (the circular one). Cannot, for the life of me, figure how the switch has worked since I put it back together last time - the mysteries of mid-year corvettes. Any how, thanks for your quick response. I've now got it saved away on the computer and am moving on to Railroadman's suggestion to get a new one.
UPDATE: Got the new switch today. To ensure this one does not come apart, I mixed a small batch of J-B Weld and applied it to a couple spots. I'll install it tomorrow so I'm ready for rain. Oh, yeah, I live in Arizona, so at least I'll have a new wiper switch if I need wipers someday.
All you folks enjoy your day tomorrow.
