1965 grille restoration
I pulled my grille today and it is a bit dulled down and the black paint is chipped.
What is the proper way to polish the outer rim and what is the correct black paint to use?
In the alternative is there someone who restores these grilles or who makes the best reproduction?

If you can polish a car, you can polish the surround on your grill. "0000" steel wool, then aluminum polish. All the black can be lightly cleaned with the steel wool. Tape off everything else and dust on the new black. Dennis

Dennis I am sure that is anodized aluminum. So removing the anodizing first then polish. I wouldn't use steel wool though.

If that is the case, you should explain all the details of that work so he can do it correctly. Dennis

I never tried it but I have read that oven cleaner will remove the anodizing and not harm the aluminum. Then you can polish the bare aluminum with a polish of you choice. Then your going to either clear coat it or keep after it with wax and polish
