I am finishing up interior odds and ends on my 63 coupe. It has a newly installed Lectric Limited dash harness. I sent the clock to Corvette Specialties of Maryland West. Upon its return, I could not get the clock to work and sent it back to be assessed. I received it back a second time, and still does not function. I checked the dash harness connector for the clock and it tested hot, and installed it correctly on the clock prongs…still nothing. Would greatly appreciate how to check the clocks operation out of the car. I’ve had 6 other C2’s over the years and have never run into anything like
Thx y’all. I have it out of the car. I touched a wire to the car battery to the screwed in post on the back of the clock, and touched other post with a wire to the frame. Nothing???? That should make it work, 10-4?
It’s been awhile since I had my clock out, isn’t the plug 2 prong? One power and one ground? 2 small jumper wires to a battery + and - you can tell the + because it has rubber isolating washers on it
Have you talked to the repair shop? If they have had it twice and it still does not work, offer to take a video of the bench test for them to prove there is a problem. There have been others on here who have used them and I believe they got favorable reviews.
As I recall, the quick and easy way to test a clock when it's out is to to touch a 9-volt battery to the terminals. That has enough juice to rewind it and you should hear it jump start. If it doesn't, you need to have a long talk with them.
Thank you all very much. I’m doing to try that 9 volt battery trick. I so here on the forum that they tested with a nine volt, and I did not understand at all. Now I do!
