Default Using a newer jack for a C2?

No real surprise that the jack and wrench were missing from my May 17th build 65 convert. I wouldn't mind sourcing a functional replacement, but not really interested in a $1000 "show jack". Are C3 jacks form/fit compatible on our cars? If so, how "new" could one consider for a functional equivalent? I see many of these available for $150 +/-

I've got '4' Midyears and only '2' of them have their original jacks. I use C3 Jacks in the other two and they will function just fine.
The C3 jacks, at least from what I read for '69 on, the base is a bit wider and they are longer, like easily a good inch or more longer. So, you won't be positioning
a C3 jack into the jack compartment like you would a C2 original jack. Mine are placed roughly diagonal in that compartment.
As to whether all C3 jacks are dimensionally the same, couldn't tell you but I'm pretty sure that one of mine is from a '76 and it fit fine too and the price,
maybe 3 years ago, was $75.

I would want it to fit. Sounds like a 68 is the latest that would work...

There are several used scissor jacks of various makes on eBay. One in particular looks like a GM unit. Dennis

Looks close in terms of the scissor...but it lacks the "kick up" that the Corvette jack has...

I have a monster floor jack that has a max lift height of almost 30 inches, but at around 70 pounds and enormous size I can’t travel with it. A bottle neck is what I store in it.

I used one of these for a few years with no problems. It fits in the C2 jack compartment and in the C1 spare tire.
I used it on the side of the road and I also have used it to jack the frame rail while the car was up on my KwikLift. Used carefully, I never had any issues with it.
The newer one looks similar to the one I bought way back when (see attached PDF).
If you are not looking for a Corvette "look-alike" jack, this one is a good serviceable unit.
My 2 cents.

68 jacks are pricey. Almost as much as C2 jacks.
I leave my C2 jack home in a cabinet and have a modern day scissor in the car.

I don't use any jack, whether it be a scissors, hydraulic, American or Chinese, to work under my car. I do use a fairly inexpensive scissors jack for emergency tire changing, though.

I was just joking. My garage is too small for me to work on a car underneath. I let the dealership do all my non-C2 specific repairs. I do the repairs that requires all four tires on the ground.

I was thinking earlier "you risk taker!" ;-)

I ended up getting a Triumph Classic compact/short lift with a sliding hydraulic jack for my garage. Works well for tight spaces, but a sports car is about all it will hold. The 65 is on it now!

I started this thread to see if there was an appearance and form factor compatible jack that I could reasonably source to throw in the compartment - just to complete the car with the accessories it came with when new. I don't care about matching dates or exact details. Sounds like a tough bill to fill....without spending a big handfull of bills!

With a 20" hydraulic jack lift. How high off the cement garage floor can I expect to get my tires off the ground?
