I'd like to have an O2 sensor probe installed in a more permanent way. I have been using a probe mount that goes on the end of the tailpipe. I would like one installed in the exhasut piping closer to the engine. My question is on the bung length. I looked at the bung that came with my A/F meter kit using a bosh broadband sensor the bung is so long the probe tip does not stick out(see photo). The installation instructions( see photo) show the probe mounted such that the end of the probe is clear of the bung and located near the middle of the flow stream. The mounting bung is 1 inch in length . Based on expirience of those of you that have installed these. What do you suggest? Jerry
O2 sensor screwed into mounting bung O2 sensor out next to bung suggested installation. Just one sensor just shown either side is OK
Decided to say screw work for a minute and went out and measured. The bung I bought is not flat. It’s beveled to go around the pipe. At the 6 o’clock position, or narrowest part, I got 1/4 from the pipe to the top. I don’t think I was hitting weld, but couldn’t see and I couldn’t get my caliper to extend at the 12 o’clock position.
