Your not alone! My '63 has a period correct NOM motor as well. Has the right block casting number and date, but the assembly code is wrong..... I have a 3782870 block with a cast date of H22 - Aug 2nd, 1962, Vette was born on 11 Sept 62 (GM official production date), yet the pad stamp has no VIN stamping, only F0625 YA - (Flint, June 25th, of what year?) - no reference found for suffix code YA ......

The Lime Book references YA as a 1968 327 truck block, 220 hp, 4B/MT. However, a 1968 327 has a different casting number. I digress...

How could it have a June assembly date but an August block? Any pictures?

That H22 is not the casting date. The casting date is in small characters on the bell housing flange to the right of the casting number. It is often hard to read and it has the impression of screw heads before and after the characters.

the engine was casted and assembled before 66. as the letter F is used for Flint. 67 on up used the letter V

Given that info, combined with the 'Lime Book' data... perhaps this 'YA' engine is from a 1966 truck:

These characters are on the right side of the bellhousing flange (F235). Are they the casting date?

Right side of bellhousing flange

Right of the casting number, but on left side of the bellhousing flange
