Engine casting number
The engine casting number on my 1963 corvette is 3782870.
i would be a interested in finding more about the engine/car.

There is also a date cast as well as numbers (two sets) stamped on the engine pad. Post those or pictures.

The 870 block was used from 62-65 for ALL 327 engines.

August 12 of 64. So that makes it a 65 model year engine. Anything on the stamp pad

The HP code looks correct. I can see the A/C muffler and the P/S. Should be a 4 spd car. I need to study the broach marks longer.
I think it's just a double tap at St. Louis, I'm ok with that.

It is and the broach marks are there...just faint. She's legit...Patrick Boyd and others have looked at it and approved

Based on the picture you posted, that is an “H”, which stands for August. The 12 is for the day of the month, and the 4 is for the the year.

depends on what your trying to clean? if paint use a chemical type cleaner. never any type of abrasive

they casted the block until 65.

Point was; if truly a 64 engine, it's not original to the vehicle.
