Fuel Injection Help
My name is Joe and I have been a member of CF for a while but have not had a reason to post until now. I joined a few years ago when I inherited my Uncle's 1962 (327/340) Corvette. It's a great car, Almond Beige in color, and literally turned 48,000 miles this weekend.
The reason for the post, however, is because I recently purchased a '63 SWC Fuelie that has been sitting for 24+ years. It's basically a one-family-owned car (the seller's father bought it used in February of '64!!) and seems to be highly original. I assume the FI unit is going to need work due to the old fuel that's been sitting in there all this time. My question: does anyone know of a competent FI person in the San Diego area that I can take the unit to for assessment and rebuilding? Everyone I've spoken to knows of a couple of guys that used to do FI's but they're either no longer with us or no longer working.
Any assistance at all would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

Welcome to the Forum and congratulations on owning a couple of very desirable Corvettes. Jim Lockwood, here on the forum, is in California and is the only person I would recommend you send your unit to for a complete and comprehensive rebuild and setup. Hopefully, Jim sees your post and responds. All the best with your newest acquisiton

I found a similar, one owner car, 8 years ago in Old Town SD. It had sat for 24-25 years too. I changed fluids, worked on the brakes, changed the plugs (add a few drops of oil in the cylinders) and with a new battery, fired it up. (Doesn't mean it's ready to drive.)
I was too impatient to have Jim perfect it so I did the things I could without screwing it up. Amazingly, it runs pretty damn good. It's a tribute to Rochester fuel injection-certainly not me.
Love to see some pictures!
