62 Corvette Grille question
My Facebook page has been posting pics of 62 Vettes with the earlier "toothed" grilles such as those that came on a 58.
I graduated in a Michigan "car" town that had two GM plants and many auto-related factories in 1963. We were all car nuts and especially loved Corvettes.
Are these cars I'm seeing modified with the earlier grilles? I have never seen a 62 in real life that looked like that.
I got home from Vietnam in 1969 and saw a beautiful Honduras Maroon 62 with black interior for sale at a local gas station for $2,500 but could not afford it. We had only been married for a year and had a new baby.
I just kept driving my 59 Chevy 283 post, 2 door for the time being. I had sold a 65 Corvette convertible when I was sent overseas in 68 and never got another Vette until 1995 or so.
I have always dreamed about that 62 though. I now drive a vintage Eldorado as I cannot climb out of a Corvette at age 79. Oh, I can fall into one easily but exiting is a joke!
58,59 and 60 vettes all have the same shark tooth grills. 61 and 62 vettes have flat grills. There are alledgedly some gold anodized grills that were installed in 62s most are black. I personally have never seen one. I have seen many shark tooth grills in 61 and 62s however. LOL.

Welcome home!
I bought my 1st. Vette after my first tour in Vietnam in '68. I knew I was going back, so I figured it's now or (maybe) never.
Many years ago, when there was a SACC club in North Carolina, one of our members had a '61 with teeth in the grill. Looked pretty cool. I thought I had a picture, but I cannot find it now.
OP
Welcome home Brother . My first Corvette was a 60 that I bought 1 week after returning from RVN in May of 68 .
I was reassigned to Ft Ord for my remaining enlistment . It was my daily driver , and I was able to drive home each week end .
New to the forum. Not to sure how this works. I would like some information about the dash setup in Carols 62. I like the look and is the way I would like to go. Where/how did you get the graphics for the speedometer(200mph)? Is it cable driven because of the speed range?
The speedometer is cable driven, but the cable is driven by a an electronic box called a Cable-X which converts the VSS signal from the 4L80E transmission to a cable. The Cable-X has switches that allow you to adjust the RPM of the cable to make the cable speed correct for your tire size and rear axle ratio.
I made the speedo face using an old Hewlett Packard pen plotter on a piece of clear acetate.
