Default 64 Speedo Cable Routing Help

See the pictures. Don’t think the black Speedo cable is routed correctly. Old cable lay on exhaust and was badly burned.
Cable presently is almost against the crosshaft and routed under the lower clutch rod and still very close to the exhaust. I assume the cable will be to the left (driver side) of the steering column, once installed. What is correct?

Pop,
Picture from the '64 AIM has a pretty good illustration of the routing of the speedo cable. Note the clip that holds the cable on the frame.

Hmmmn. Thought I posted last evening

The bracket is not on the frame, but is riveted to the fiberglass in the transmission tunnel. It’s present and the cable is in it. I think I’ve routed the same as AIM, but not happy with the nearness to other moving or hot surfaces. Maybe someone happy with theirs will chime in with pictures.

Pop,
Route the cable to the "outside" of the exhaust header pipe rather than to the "inside" as you currently have it. Everything else seems to be OK. Use that clip on the transmission tunnel to hold it out of the way of the exhaust.

Still not resolved, but: The original cable measures 54”, replaced wit the black 54” cable shown. ZIP shows a “correct” cable 54” long .

That sure looks good. I have that same routing, but I’m convinced it’s too long even though it’s the same as the old one and repos.
